300 apartments flooded in Durrës, residents speak out: It's the third time, the Municipality must intervene!

Heavy rains "invaded" the cities of the country yesterday, while the first problems were recorded. In the city of Durrës, heavy rains turned the streets into puddles of water, while several homes were flooded.

The Municipality of Durrës has issued an official announcement today, stating that the flooded apartments are located in the area of ​​New Durrës, Shkozet, Nishtull and the intersection near the Penitentiary Institution. The municipality further states that water has entered about 300 apartments.

200 houses were flooded in the area of ​​New Durrës, 60 in the area of ​​Shkozet and Plazhit, 4 apartments in administrative unit 4, 1 house in unit 1, 20 apartments in Sukth, 10 in Katund të Ri and 5 houses in Rrashbull.

Meanwhile, residents say that they have been flooded other times but not to this extent that we have been flooded this time. According to a resident, the cause of the floods is not the rainfall but the problem is the main canal. He stressed that the municipality should establish a project for this canal since this is the third time that it has been flooded.

" We have been flooded other times, but not to the extent that we have been flooded this time. The problem is the main canal that overflows its bed and floods us, it is not the rainfall. Water has entered our house, we have been stuck through the windows all night. The state must intervene for the canal, the Municipality of Durrës should include the canal in the project, this is the third time that we have been flooded ," said a resident.

During his speech, another person affected by the flood said that they are still wearing boots in their apartment because everything has been damaged by the water.

According to him, the drainage channels were closed when the road was built. He emphasizes that they requested that a pipeline be installed, but their request was not accepted.

" We even wear boots inside the house, everything that has been caught in the water has been damaged. We are flooded because the water in the canal has come out above the road. The drainage canals were closed when the road was built, we asked for a pipeline to be put in, but they refused. The large canal cannot handle it, the drainage canals sent the water to another canal," added another.

All our groups, heavy vehicles, company employees and firefighters are on the ground working to remove water from the apartments. Currently, water is present in many apartments in the area of ​​New Durres, Shkozet, Nishtulla, the intersection near the Penitentiary Institution.

Water has entered about 300 homes in total, of which 200 homes are in the New Durrës area, 60 in the Shkozet and Plazhit areas, 4 homes in administrative unit 4, 1 home in unit 1, 20 homes in Sukth, 10 in Katund të Ri and 5 homes in Rrashbull.

 While the situation on the main road axes in Durrës has normalized, the area of ​​New Durrës, Nishtulla, Shkozet and Plazh is experiencing problems.
