The names of the streets with symbols of communism, the People's Advocate

The People's Advocate has asked the Municipal Council of Tirana to avoid naming the streets and squares of the capital with dates or names that have to do with the communist past of Albania.

In the recommendation of the PA, it is required to make verifications for the cases of current use of these denominations and to start the procedures for their change in case they are evidenced.

The quality of a democratic society is openly compromised by the remembrance and honor of a regime that has violently violated human rights, the AP adds.
