Foreign media raise the alarm on the terror that has engulfed Ecuador from drug trafficking gangs. They write that three gangs operate in Ecuador: the Sinaloa Cartel, Re Jalisco and the Albanian mafia.

Regarding the latter, "Ecuavisa" writes that it started to get stronger from 2014 and was connected to the gang called "R7".

All these groups finance and control cocaine transport routes by air and sea.

According to local authorities, the gangs fight to the death to control the territory and transport the drugs.

The Jalisco and Sinaloa cartels and the Albanian mafia buy cocaine from Colombian gangs and then move it across the northern border, through Esmeralda.

Most shipments from these provinces are transported to the US and Europe. It is further stated that a part of narcotics is transported in containers through the ports.

We recall the frequent cases of cocaine seizures in the Port of Durrës. The last case allegedly happened about 10 days ago.

More than 2 thousand people have lost their lives in Ecuador as a result of clashes to control drug trafficking. From May 2021 until today, 300 tons of drugs have been seized in Ecuador.
