The Minister of Finance, Delina Ibrahimaj, during the presentation of the government's decisions, announced the increase of the minimum wage in Albania. Starting from April 1, the minimum wage will increase by 6,000,000 ALL and will reach 40,000,000 ALL.

The minister stated that it is intended that in the next three years Albania will not have the lowest salary in the region.

"There is an increase of 6,000 lek, 17% higher than the salary that is in the market. This salary will be attributed to both the private and the public sector. From April 1, the minimum wage will increase."

"They affect the well-being of Albanians. Salary is the main form of disposable income of Albanian families. In the next three years, it should not be the lowest in the region and Albania should be attractive for the labor force and investments.

"We have been careful as we do not want to add cost to the business and that is why we subsidize the additional cost for social security contributions. This is not related to electoral politics." - said Ibrahimaj.
