The next summit of the Berlin Process will be held in Albania

The signing of three mobility agreements will contribute to building bridges in the Western Balkans region, the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) assessed at the Berlin Summit.

She added that the RCC will continue to support the implementation and governance of the agreements – so their intended benefits are extended in the shortest possible time.

The heads of governments of the Western Balkans signed three agreements that provide for the free movement of persons with identity cards between the countries of the Western Balkans, the recognition of university degrees and the recognition of licenses for doctors, dentists and architects.

"Although they were dismissed as almost impossible, after two years of efforts, the three central mobility agreements coordinated by the RCC were finally realized. Like the ubiquitous impact of the regional roaming agreement and green lanes, their impact manifested on the ground will be direct and concrete. It contributes to building the bridges that our region still needs within and with the EU on a basis of equal treatment ", said Majlinda Bregu, Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) at the Summit.

She estimated that with this impetus, it is time to follow the example of EU members in green lane initiatives and to make a concrete case of reducing roaming between the EU and the WB.

The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, thanked the RCC for all the work done in the last two years in facilitating the three mobility agreements, calling for the acceleration of regional cooperation and European integration processes.

The participants of the Summit emphasized their desire for the continuation of the Berlin Process to exploit the full potential of improved and comprehensive regional cooperation and agreed that the next Summit of the Berlin Process 2023 will be held in Albania, writes EWB .
