How did Soros use USAID funds in Albania to support the left?

Activist Merissa Hansen has made a strong denunciation regarding USAID funds for Albania.

In a post on the "X" platform, Hansen writes that USAID gave a full $15 million to George Soros's "Open Society" Foundation.

Regarding this money, Hansen writes that an investigation has been requested by American senators, as there were suspicions that the money was used by Soros to support left-wing parties.

“USAID gave nearly $15 million to George Soros’ Open Society Foundation during Obama’s last four years in office alone, which did extensive work in the West Bank/Palestine region – yet the funding was primarily for Soros’s operations in Albania and Macedonia.

According to the USAID website, the agency provided over $18 million to an Open Society Institute program from 2005 - 2012 operating in the West Bank, which sought to place prospective Palestinian doctoral students at partner universities in the United States with tuition waived or reduced.

There were allegations that Soros, through his Open Society Foundations, has influenced Macedonian politics, particularly with allegations of funding aimed at supporting left-leaning political parties or agendas.

This influence was used to incite political unrest or push for regime change, particularly during the political crisis in Macedonia around 2015-2017.

“In a March 2017 letter to Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson, six U.S. senators called on the secretary to investigate the relationship between USAID and the Soros Foundations and how U.S. tax dollars are being used by the State Department and USAID to support the left, seeking to impose left-wing policies in countries like Macedonia and Albania,” Hansen writes.
