Albania has no firefighting equipment, 2 Romanian planes arrive
Two planes of the Armed Forces of Romania have arrived this Wednesday in Albania, joining the efforts of the Albanian forces to isolate and extinguish the fires.
The news was announced by the Ministry of Defense, according to which the two planes are coming to our country, as support for the European Civil Protection Mechanism, of which Albania is also a part.
The Romanian crews will be deployed for almost 10 days at the Kuçova Air Base, where they will be coordinated by the National Agency of Civil Protection to engage from today, in the fire pits, where the situation is most critical.
The two military aircraft are one model C-27J (Spartan), which will engage in firefighting operations and the other C-130 (Hercules), which provides logistical support to the C-27J, while the capacity is 6 tons of water per every flight.
Albania has no means of extinguishing fires, and almost every year, we have found support from other countries, which have helped us with planes to intervene in critical outbreaks.
