Rising energy prices are beginning to have consequences for businesses, chain bankruptcies are being warned

Rising energy prices are beginning to have consequences for businesses, chain

Rising electricity prices have greatly increased the difficulties for meat and dairy processing plants. The companies claim with concern that supply at a price 3-4 times higher than before has increased production costs.

To cope with the high increase in energy tariffs, businesses require government intervention with the implementation of mitigation measures. Next week, business associations are expected to present to the government concrete mitigation measures against the enterprise affected by the price of energy.

Nikolla Tona, meat processor of the factory "Tona" told Monitor that energy costs from the price increase have been increased by 130,000 ALL per day. Mr. Tona demands that the government start discussions with the company to take mitigation measures, as for them the situation is unbearable.

"Energy is a basic cost for our factory, as it is used not only in production lines, but also for storing products in refrigerated rooms. From the increase of the energy price, the bill from 3.2 million / month that they paid before is 5.3 million ALL / month, when 25-40% of the energy consumption for this year is covered by the floor mirrors (depending on the atmospheric conditions ). We find it impossible to amortize the cost increase from the price of energy. "We are struggling to survive, as rising energy prices have created the pre-bankruptcy situation."

The company "Tona" is connected to the average energy voltage of 20 kilowatts 11.2 ALL per kilowatt and now the price is 25 ALL / kv. The company administrator claims that the price increase at these levels is deadly to the meat processing industry. Their demand is for the government to take measures to amortize the price increase, either by distributing the increase for the energy tariff of the households.

"Manufacturing businesses can not afford a price increase higher than 20%. If the government does not take measures to amortize the price increase there will be chain bankruptcies of processing plants. Manufacturers find it impossible to transfer cost increases to rising product prices, as increased sales of imported goods would automatically be favored. The products of the region would be sold at cheaper prices than the local ones, as the production costs have not been affected by the high price increase ".

The industry is also suffering from rising prices for auxiliary raw materials for the production of sausage and other meat products, as well as rising fuel prices.

Begaj.

In protection of businesses from rising energy prices ERE approved preferential prices for 7,740 businesses connected to the medium voltage 20,10 and 6 kv that first appeared on the free market from January 1, 2022. These businesses will be protected until in June from the price increase, after this deadline the situation will be re-evaluated. Meanwhile other businesses that have previously appeared in the free market are continuing to be supplied with real prices resulting from auctions which are significantly higher. The month with the most expensive tariffs so far has resulted in November 2021 with a tariff of 38.7 lek / kwh while in December there was a slight reduction of this price, stabilizing at 31.7 lek./Monitor
