Scandal in Pukë, social housing is taken by officials and used for mountain tourism

Abuses of power in Albania are not rare, but in the city of Puka they exceeded all expectations. Social housing, which should serve the homeless, has ended up in the hands of the authorities and this is best proven by the lists of beneficiaries.

The first on the list is Enea Sulejmani, the son of the chairman of the Municipal Council, Enver Sulejmani.

Another beneficiary is Bert Gjetaj, the son of the member of the Municipal Council, Pashke Gjetaj.

Also, Gisea Terbuni, the daughter of Pranvera Terbuni, the list maker, was "rewarded" with an entry.

But the biggest absurdity with these apartments is the fact that, apart from being occupied by people who do not deserve them, they have started to return to business.

Piranjat managed to rent the social housing of Demir Syla, who offers it at the price of 50 euros, a night. Based on the law no. 22, of 2018 "On Social Housing", the beneficiaries cannot rent the social housing during the repayment of the loan, but in the absence of controls from the relevant authorities, Demiri continues to exercise his business freely.

In the confrontation that Demiri had with Piranjat, he denied that he rents out his apartment, even though the fact is documented.

Regarding this problem, the mayor Gjon Gjonaj stated that it is a coincidence that the beneficiaries are the family members of the institution, while the chairman of the Municipal Council, Enver Sulejmani stated that the selection was made by the commission, which identified the people who are most in need.

The question arises: how is it possible that there are no other families in need in Pukë who meet the criteria?

As for the case of Demir Syla, he said that he is not aware that this phenomenon exists in these apartments.

But Demiri is not the only one. Piranjat discovered another beneficiary, which does not meet the criteria.

"This work is with society. Here we are all with salaries, and two cars. I have a very nice house in the village" she said proudly.
