The number of visitors to Kosovo is increasing

In January, the number of local and foreign visitors was 77 thousand 295, of which the largest number was from Albania, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey. The number of foreign tourists visiting Kosovo has increased from year to year. According to the data of the Statistics Agency of Kosovo in January of this year, there were more visitors in hotels than a year ago.

"In January 2024, the number of visitors (local and foreign) in hotels was 77,295, of which 42.1% were local and 57.8% were foreign. Compared to January 2023 (there were 51,253 visitors), there was an increase in the total number of visitors to hotels by 50.8%.

The number of net-stays was 152 thousand 51, of which 38.5% by locals and 61.4% by foreigners. The region of Peja had the largest number of internal visitors in hotels with 19 thousand 472 visitors and 33 thousand 80 overnight stays.

"As for foreign visitors, compared to the previous period (January 2023), there is an increase in visitors by 50.8%. In total, 77,295 foreign visitors, of which the largest number were from Albania, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, etc.

According to the Tourism Union, institutions play a major role in the promotion of Kosovo because they should allocate more budget and prioritize tourism. For this reason, the Union appealed to the institutions to increase the fund for tourism because it is one of the main pillars of the economy and employment of this country.

According to the Union, the more visitors there are, the more and positive there will be income in businesses and in the state. Soon the Republic of Kosovo will have its official tourism logo and slogan, as through these symbols it is intended to develop tourism in the coming years.

Kosovo will also be promoted through international fairs, where tourist operators participate, with support from MINT/KIESA, who promote and sell tourist offers for Kosovo, through the Tourism Registry, as an electronic platform that provides information for entities that carry out activities in the field of tourism in the Republic of Kosovo, through digital platforms, 'Fam Trips' and other similar ones.

The third edition of the International Tourism Fair, "Kosova 2024" will be held on April 12-13, where there will be over 300 exhibiting companies that will present their products from 15 European countries./Monitor
