Rains flood Frankfurt airport, dozens of flights are cancelled

Dozens of flights were canceled at Germany's Frankfurt airport after heavy rain led to major flooding.

Heavy flooding included the apron area where planes are parked, loaded and unloaded, causing many flights to be canceled, delayed or diverted.

Ground services at Germany's busiest airport were completely suspended for more than two hours, meaning 34 planes could not take off on time on Wednesday evening.

Many flights were canceled by the airlines themselves. The airport's website listed about 70 cancellations.
