Left out of the Parliament by 18 thousand votes, Alimehmeti: Functional democracy and constitutionality are missing

Left out of the Parliament by 18 thousand votes, Alimehmeti: Functional

Despite securing over 18,000 preferential votes in the May 11 elections, physician Ilir Alimehmeti failed to secure a mandate as a member of parliament.

Invited to the Klan News studio, Alimehmeti states that even though we are in 2025, we are still not capable of providing free and fair elections in Albania.
Alimehmeti added that two main elements that are missing in our country are functional democracy and constitutionalism.

"We have a situation where in 2025 we get a low or passing grade, that we are not yet capable of providing free and fair elections in Albania. This is our problem, all of us."

No one is excluded. This reasoning and then we will also enter the concept of how the law has been mismanaged to distance voters from the elected because this is the problem, we will find a situation where I believe that if we seek a country with functional democracy and constitutionality, Albania is increasingly moving away from these two elements and as a result Albanians who seek functional democracy and constitutionality are leaving Albania. In 2025 it is no longer a personal issue, but a national issue , "says Alimehmeti.
