How to store aromatic herbs so they stay fresh for weeks

Herbs add rich aromas and flavors to any recipe, however, they are particularly delicate and cannot be stored for long.

Often, we don't use the entire bunch of parsley, dill, or celery, resulting in a large portion of it ending up in the trash. Fortunately, there are ways to preserve them for a longer period of time.

If you plan to consume the herbs within 4-5 days, an effective way to keep them fresh is as follows: wash them well, dry them carefully, wrap them in kitchen paper, tie them in a plastic bag, and place them in the refrigerator.

This way, they are kept fresh and ready to use. Also, because they are already cleaned, they are easier to use in more dishes, even in salads.

Freezing is a great way to have aromatic herbs available all year round, ideal for days when you want to add flavor to food without preparing it first.

Wash, dry, and chop the herbs along with their stems, if desired, separate them by type, and store them in airtight bags.

A smart solution is to freeze them as ice cubes. More specifically, place the cut pieces in ice cube trays, add a little water or olive oil, and place them in the freezer. This way, you'll have small amounts ready for soups, sauces, or cooked meals.

Parsley, dill, and celery freeze very well. Mint retains its flavor, although it may change color slightly.
