Democratic candidate for MP in the May 11 parliamentary elections, Ilir Alimehmeti, has stated that through silence, the US is sending a clear message regarding the May 11 elections.

Alimehmeti, who failed to obtain the mandate of an MP in the parliamentary elections, was invited to the podcast 'Të Pashoq' and said that, even though he received around 18 thousand preferential votes, he said that Albania is between autocracy and dictatorship.

The EU has clearly said: with elections of this level, it will not enter the European Union. The US has not spoken yet. I know that it is delaying and the delay is a message in itself. When someone is late even to a wedding, it sends a message. In 2021, before the countdown was even over, there was a reaction from the US. Today we have a delay, the delay speaks and the importance that the US has in the relations we have with them, are with many zeros behind.
