Tirana's road police with an "iron fist": 14 arrested in the last

Tirana Traffic Police has launched a plan of measures to strengthen security on the roads of the capital.

With the increased presence of law enforcement and the use of intelligent devices, controls have been focused on drivers of vehicles and motorcycles, with the aim of preventing violations that endanger the lives and health of citizens.

During the last 72 hours, 14 drivers have been prosecuted, 13 vehicles have been impounded, and around 6,000 administrative measures have been imposed. Controls continue throughout the territory of Tirana.

Announcement from the Traffic Police in Tirana:

Tirana Traffic Police intensifies controls, with the sole objective of meeting road safety parameters.

The special plan of measures is being monitored on the ground by the head of the Traffic Police Commissariat.

The plan consists of monitoring with intelligent devices and the increased presence of Traffic Police services, with the objective of carrying out checks for:

motor vehicle drivers, for wearing a protective helmet;

drivers, for:

giving priority to pedestrians, on white lines;

not using a mobile phone while driving;

putting on a seat belt;

failure to drive a vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drunk;

respecting speed limits;

speed moderation in residential areas;

preventing wrong-way overtaking;

identifying incorrect parking that obstructs traffic.

During the last 72 hours:

14 drivers were arrested/criminally prosecuted for violating road traffic rules;

13 vehicles were blocked;

About 6,000 administrative measures have been imposed.
