Stalking and fake profiles on social networks, several arrested and prosecuted in Tirana

Tirana Police have cracked down on a number of cases of stalking and misuse of personal data on social networks.

As part of the investigations conducted by specialists for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes, as well as by Police Commissariat No. 1, materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office regarding a number of persons suspected of stalking, opening fake profiles and making offensive comments towards citizens.

In one of the cases, a 22-year-old man was arrested for stalking a 21-year-old woman, while another citizen is wanted. Authorities are continuing their investigations to fully clarify the cases and stop abuses on online platforms.

Police announcement:

The Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Specialists referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where proceedings were initiated in the absence of the following citizens:

-VT, 20 years old, for allegedly opening two fake profiles on social networks, with the data of a 21-year-old;

-FD, 35 years old, for allegedly opening a profile on social networks with photos of a 42-year-old woman;

-GJ, 46 years old, after based on the report made by a 46-year-old woman, this citizen made offensive comments on her social media profile;

-D. Xh., 29 years old, for allegedly stalking a 30-year-old man on social media;

- Citizen GQ, 52, was declared wanted, after he is suspected of having opened a fake profile on social networks, under which he is stalking a 41-year-old woman.

Crime Investigation Specialists of Police Station No. 1:

-arrested citizen HV, 22 years old, after allegedly stalking a 21-year-old woman;
