Murder of Santiago Malko, the Supreme Court overturns the GJKKO Appeal decision

The Supreme Court has overturned the verdict for Bledi Teta, accused of the murder of former police officer Santiago Malko, an event that occurred in August 2019.

The Court of Appeal has returned his file for trial, who was found guilty by the trial panel as a participant in the execution of Malko on the evening of August 27 on "Xhanfize Keko" Street in Tirana.

"Criminal Court Case 52104-00023-00-2023 BLENDI TETA Articles 78/2, 28/4, 333/a/2, 334 point 1 of the Criminal Code. "Reversal of decision no. 32, dated 14.6.2022, of the Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, and sending the case for reconsideration to this court, with another panel," the Supreme Court's announcement states. 

Former police officer Santiago Malko was executed on the evening of August 27 in the “Xhamlliku” area in Tirana, in his “BMW X5” car. Reported for a series of criminal incidents, Malko had also entered the state administration. For the murder of Malko, the prosecution accused 8 people, headed by the two Duka brothers, Leonardi and Erlisi. The Duka clan, accused of the murder, consists of: Leonard Duka, Erlis Duka, Ilir Selmani, Ervis Metani, Fatmir Hyseni, Dritan Agaj, Aleksandër Maxhaku and Xhoni Nica.
