Putin announces the creation of a "security zone" along the border

Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially announced the creation of a "safe zone" along the border between Russia and Ukraine, as a new measure to protect Russian territory from threats stemming from the war in Ukraine. During a meeting with senior government officials, Putin stated that the armed forces are already engaged in the implementation of this decision.

"We have approved the creation of a necessary security zone along our borders. Our armed forces are actively working to fulfill this task," the Kremlin chief said.

Putin emphasized that the decision was made in response to recent developments in the border regions of Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk, which have been hit by constant clashes and attacks from Ukrainian territory. According to him, the situation requires urgent measures for the restoration and reconstruction of the affected areas.

In this context, the Kremlin aims to help local residents return to their native villages, provided that security in the area is guaranteed. Priority will also be given to the rehabilitation of transport networks and vital infrastructure, the restoration of industrial and agricultural enterprises, as well as support for entrepreneurs and their employees.

This development further reinforces Russia's strategy to expand control over areas near the Ukrainian border and comes at a time when tensions on the front line continue to be high.
