The Llogara tunnel opens tomorrow, until when will it be free of charge?

Starting tomorrow (Saturday), the Llogara tunnel will be opened to vehicle traffic.

The news was announced by the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku, who explained that the tunnel will be free of charge until September 15.

" In full support of the tourism industry that has already begun to consolidate ," Balluku said in a Facebook post.

The commissioning of the Llogara tunnel significantly shortens the distance to access the south of the country, avoiding the passage through the Llogara Pass. The speed of movement in the tunnel will be from 50 to 80 kilometers per hour, while during the summer season, about 10 thousand vehicles are expected to move through it.

The tunnel starts from the St. Eliza Bridge and ends at the Palasa Bridge, and is part of the Orikum-Himarë road section, part of the Vlorë-Saranda Highway. Construction work on the tunnel began on November 15, 2021, at a cost of about $180 million.

According to previous announcements by the authorities, from next year the transition to it will cost 5 euros.
