Grants for Handicrafts and Competitiveness, Albanian Investment Development

The Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA) announced that it had announced 86 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as winners of grants aimed at increasing competitiveness. In a list made public, at least 10 of them belong to grants dedicated to handicrafts, 19 enterprises that want to focus on competitiveness and 57 enterprises that will benefit from grants for current expenses.

"Following the Decision of the Council of Ministers No. 26, dated 10.01.2025, on the support of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which aim to increase their competitiveness, develop products and services, innovate and renew technology, develop handicrafts, and support women entrepreneurs with the aim of promoting export and strengthening the capabilities of MSMEs related to services and products for a sustainable market, AIDA announced and administered the call for grants for 2025 during the period January 30-February 28, 2025. During this period, 443 requests for financial support were received at AIDA's address," the Agency announced on Thursday of this week.

Regarding grant support, AIDA applies two schemes, the first of which is financial support for current expenses with a funding value of up to 2.5 million lek and 100 percent cost coverage. The coverable costs include some of them, starting from the certification of standards to promotional materials.

The second scheme includes support for capital expenditures, which includes competitiveness projects with a financing value of up to 1.5 million lek and 100 percent cost coverage, as well as handicraft projects with a financing value of up to 1 million lek and 100 percent cost coverage.

In the first case, for competitiveness projects, the recoverable costs include the purchase of machinery that affects the increase in production and the improvement of product quality, while for handicrafts, the purchase of traditional and/or technological machinery to improve working conditions for the business, as well as the purchase of e-commerce applications and/or programs./ Monitor
