The body of renowned publicist and civil servant Artan Lame is expected to arrive in Albania on Saturday, after he passed away following a difficult surgery in Germany. His heart stopped beating this Friday, after several days in a cerebral coma.

The sad news was confirmed by his wife, Mirela Lame, and mother, Diana Lame, who shared painful messages on social media that touched the hearts of many Albanians.

" I am Tani and I will be forever! I love you forever, my sweetheart, " his wife wrote in an emotional post on Facebook.

Even his mother, shocked by the loss, remembered the last conversation with her son: "I was hopeful because he promised me he would come back. 'I don't mind tomorrow (when he was going to have surgery), I'm fine, I'm calm, but I'm focusing on the Museum.' Even when I woke him up from sleep, he would talk about the Museum ," she confessed.

Artan Lame's coffin has left Germany today and will arrive in Albania by land. The family is expected to make public the procedures for paying homage and escorting him to his final resting place.

Artan Lame was one of the most well-known public figures of the Albanian transition. He headed the Agency for Legalization, Urbanization and Integration of Informal Areas (ALUIZNI) for several years and held several state positions. He was a well-known voice of the Socialist Party and an activist committed to the protection of Albanian cultural heritage. A publicist, opinion leader and passionate collector, Lame will be remembered for his special contribution to the public and cultural life of the country.
