Taulant Xhaka retires from football

Former Albanian national team midfielder Taulant Xhaka has decided to retire from football at the end of this season at the age of 34.

This was announced by the Basel club, through a post on social networks.

"It has always been important for me to decide for myself when I would stop playing football. At the end of March I will be 34 years old. I think it is right for me to retire at this age, as I have had the number 34 on my shirt since my youth ," said Xhaka.

The midfielder spent his entire career at Basel in Switzerland, apart from two seasons on loan at Grasshopper. After more than 400 appearances, Xhaka decided to call time on his career, ending a spectacular career.
