How much money came from tourism? Rama admits it: We supported 5-star hotels,

Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that in the first 6 months of Albania, the economy has benefited about 1 billion in income from tourism. While taking stock of the tourist season, he said that Tirana has "absorbed" a high number of tourists.

"The season has been surprising in terms of the flow of income for the economy. In the first 6 months, we exceeded 1 billion in income from tourism in the economy, almost double the previous year. The flows of foreign visitors, until August, were 5.6 million tourists.

It is 1.3 million more than last year. Especially a tourism that has brought many visitors to several cities, starting from Tirana. Tirana has had a boom in tourists who have preferred Tirana and staying in Tirana. This can be seen not only from the hotels that were full, but also from the number of apartments that were rented", said Rama.

The latter admitted that the government has followed a supportive policy for 5-star accommodation structures, because according to the prime minister, it stimulates the country's economy.

Rama said that this type of policy brings to Albania tourists who increase the country's income and not necessarily those who come with bread with them.

"We followed a policy to stimulate tourism ventures for four and five star structures. It is often misunderstood to give people the idea that what we do is favoring the rich.

The opposite is true. This we do with this structure favors the national economy and the network of services or local producers of all the food that comes from the Albanian farm. These are structures that bring a different type of tourist from the one who comes to spend a day or two or from the one who comes with bread. So from that type of tourist who sometimes increases the amount but not the income in the economy", said Rama
