The Chairman of the Republic Party, Fatmir Mediu, was invited this Tuesday to the Debate by Alba Alishani on A2 CNN, where he spoke about the opposition meetings for the May 11 elections.

He said that the goal was to show concerns about the situation in Albania. "For some time, the Albanian opposition has developed its contacts, perhaps a little belated, with the EP, the CDI, the American Congress, and now with the Assembly of the Council of Europe. The goal was to get to know the situation in Albania, a situation that was painted very rosy without any special attention to the problems that Albania has, in particular crime and corruption.

What is most important, guaranteeing free and fair elections. The OSCE-ODIHR report has clearly shown that votes in Albania are bought, voters are intimidated, crime and corruption are involved in vote buying. Also, the way justice has been used against the opposition, putting it in front of a process that does not have a solid legal basis.

"The whole purpose was for us to present the concerns we have about the situation in Albania. On this path, Albania will never become an EU member state," Mediu said in the Debate.
