Former footballer of the Albanian national team, Andi Lila has recently entered politics and has publicly expressed his support for the Democratic Party.

Lila spoke on the show Soiree that she is politically committed to a great cause and to make changes in mentality regarding sports. He confessed the difficult conditions in which the athletes work and, among other things, publicly warned Lulzim Basha that if the latter did not fulfill the promises for the athletes, he would shoot them with a cannon.

"I have been part of the Democratic Party since early high school. I did not get involved in politics, politics asked me to. Everyone should have a cause for why they are entering, why they are here, why they are in this place where decisions are made. The reason why I am now also part of the Democratic Party I think is the force where it will make the difference in sports, because athletes have a thousand and one worries. We as a union have sent requests to be part of the tables for the sport, but no one has noticed. Seeing that the Prime Minister of our country says that footballers are treated as slaves and this Prime Minister who has everything in his hands, what is he doing to free these people from slavery? And this was a motive for my cause to change once and for all the mentality in sports that if we are united, we will change everything.

There are footballers in Albania who have played as professionals for over 20 years and do not have a day of health insurance. This is crazy. An athlete's career is from the age of 10 to the age of 35, every day training, commitment. You do not have time to attend a proper school. So when you are 35 years old you do not have a day of health insurance and exactly this sport that we loved and applauded, this one gets in the way and becomes a burden for the country. If the DP does not make those ideas that we say for the good of sports, I personally swear to you here, that the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha tomorrow Prime Minister, to the Prime Minister with balls. "We will shoot all the athletes until he does what we want" , said Andi Lila.
