The news was confirmed by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who published Veliu's resignation letter.

"With the highest consideration for the honesty, professionalism and special dedication of the General Director of the State Police, Ardi Veliu, and with the conviction that he still has a lot to give to the state in other tasks, I thank him from the bottom of my heart for valuable contribution ", writes Rama.

In his resignation letter, Veliu states that the reason for this decision is the commitment to the family, while he has expressed his readiness to take on other duties in the police in the future.

He demanded that the blue uniforms be on the next level. Rama further said that every district must give results, to give clear examples that there is no impunity in the State Police.
