Transparency Board sets new fuel prices, diesel and gasoline prices decrease

The Transparency Board has announced the new fuel prices in Albania.

According to the announcement, starting today, diesel will be priced at 176 lek per liter, 4 lek less than the last board meeting, while the price of gasoline has been set at 166 lek/liter, 2 lek less than the board's last decision.

The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 176 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 164 lek/liter.

The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 166 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 154 lek/liter.

The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, 17th at 13:00 and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.

We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.

In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
