Corruption, immigration, healthcare are not enough for the SP MP: There is no reason for Rama to resign

Corruption, immigration, healthcare are not enough for the SP MP: There is no

While citizens continue protests demanding the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama, Socialist Party MP Briseida Çakërri believes that there is no reason for the government to resign.

Invited to A2CNN, Çakërri said that Rama promised the country's integration into the EU, the process of which in fact remained hostage to IBAR for several months.

However, Rama's MP does not see the issues addressed by citizens such as corruption, mass emigration, low salaries, healthcare, and illegal construction in protected areas as valid reasons for resignation.

"There is no reason for the SP and Edi Rama to resign, when the main promise in the campaign was precisely EU membership. By the end of 2027, Albania will close the negotiations. Today we are in Chapter 27, which is related to the environment, which is one of the main reasons why this protest started. Integration was the main promise, where 92 percent of Albanians want integration, says the EU barometer. This is the spirit of 92 percent of Albanians. The Prime Minister has come out from the first days and has extended his hand, saying, bring your representative with the demands you have and let's discuss them, talk about what we can do better," said Çakërri.
