Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk is expected to end his international career after the 2026 World Cup.
The 35-year-old centre-back is said to have decided to focus fully on his club career after the tournament in North America. Van Dijk is leading the team as captain at this World Cup, where the 'Tulips' are aiming for a successful performance in football's most prestigious competition.
According to a report published by 'Soccer News', the defender's decision is expected to be made official immediately after the tournament ends. Meanwhile, his future at club level remains unclear.
Van Dijk's contract with Liverpool expires in 12 months and the defender is expected to respect his current deal until the end.
