Suspected of killing ex-boyfriend in Voskopoja, court orders prison sentence for

The Korça Court has ordered the security measure of arrest in prison, at the request of the Korça Prosecution Office, for Kejsi Spahillari, who is accused of the murder of her boyfriend, Antonio Karafili, an event that occurred 7 years ago in Voskopoja.

Although the event was recorded and investigated as a suicide, after 18-year-old Antonio Karafili was found hanging from a tree with a sheet on the outskirts of the village of Voskopoja, the prosecution continued the investigation by collecting evidence and evaluating clues, which implicated Antonio's girlfriend, Kejsi Spahillari, and another young man, Rexhep Vathi, in the incident.

Biological evidence shows that Rexhep Vathi and Kejsi Spahillari strangled Antonio Karafili with a sheet and then hung him from a tree, staging the young man's suicide. The motive for the crime is suspected to be the parallel relationship that Kejsi Spahillari had with the victim and Rexhep Vathi. After the crime, Spahillari emigrated to Canada, while in August 2024, Rexhep Vathi committed suicide.
