The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has brought 7 defendants to trial, Gëzim Sylaj, Vasil Karasaliu, Viola Mema, Behare Luzi, Enxhi Çelaj, Gazmend Panxha and Sokol Sylaj.

They were arrested in November 2024, accused of running a fraud scheme by posing as administration employees and promising citizens social housing in Durrës in exchange for money.

Gëzim Sylaj was found guilty and sentenced to a total of 3 years and 6 months in prison, but due to the summary trial, the sentence was reduced to 2 years and 4 months in prison, which he will serve in a normal security prison.

Vasil Karasaliu, Viola Mema and Behare Luzi were found guilty and sentenced to sentences ranging from 2 to 3 years in prison, but due to the reduction of the sentence by 1/3 according to the law, the final sentences range from 1 year and 4 months to 2 years in prison.

Viola Mema and Behare Luzi also benefited from the concurrence of sentences and were ultimately sentenced to 2 years in prison each.

Enxhi Çelaj, convicted of two episodes of unlawful influence, was ultimately sentenced to 1 year and 10 months in prison, but her sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation for a period of 3 years and 8 months, under the supervision of the Durrës Probation Service.

Gazmend Panxha was sentenced to 10 months in prison, while Sokol Sylaj was sentenced to 8 months in prison (after being reduced by 1/3), which were also suspended by court decision, being placed on probation for 20 months respectively.
