While Kosovo is ranked 78th. The report says the government has stepped up pressure on the media in 2020, "threatening" to adopt the anti-defamation package, despite criticism from press freedom organizations and the Venice Commission.

According to Reporters Without Borders, this raises censorship. He also adds that the government's attitude towards the media encouraged businessmen and pro-government officials to sue journalists, while the use of denigrating language has turned them into the object of attack.

Physical assaults are common and authorities fail to punish them, it said. The report notes that at the beginning of the pandemic, Prime Minister Edi Rama asked the public to "protect themselves from the media" and refused to help when the pandemic exacerbated media financial problems to the point that newspapers stopped producing for about six weeks.

These are the findings of "Reporters Without Borders" on media freedom in Albania, while ranking at the top of the classification for respecting press freedom Scandinavian countries: Norway, Finland and Sweden.
