Protest/ Police prosecute 16 citizens and announce 2 others wanted

Police have criminally prosecuted 16 protesters today, after they failed to respect the rally's schedule and perimeter.

They are charged with the criminal offenses of "Obstructing the movement of means of transport", "Disturbing public order and peace" and "Organizing and participating in illegal gatherings and demonstrations".

According to the police, they are suspected of having encouraged participants through calls to continue the rally beyond the time announced by the organizers, while not respecting the perimeter announced for this rally. As a result, traffic congestion and obstacles to movement were caused.

"Following the investigative and procedural actions carried out in relation to the blocking of roads in the city of Tirana by the organizers and participants in the rally, 16 citizens have been criminally prosecuted by the structures of the Tirana DVP, specifically:

AK, 46 years old, LK, 33 years old and A. Ll., 30 years old, EK, 32 years old, AK, 30 years old, TK, 24 years old, MY, 22 years old, Xh. D., 23 years old, ST, 22 years old, I. Xh., 44 years old, EQ, 41 years old, EK, 23 years old, AD, 21 years old, S. Gj., 33 years old, AK, 30 years old and EL, 21 years old, suspected of the criminal offenses "Obstruction of the circulation of means of transport", "Disturbance of public order and peace" and "Organization and participation in illegal gatherings and manifestations".

As well as working to escort citizens E. Q and M. C, who are wanted by the police. From the actions taken so far, it is suspected that these citizens have encouraged, through calls, the participants to continue the rally beyond the hours announced by the organizers (18:00–22:00), not respecting the perimeter announced for this rally. As a result, a traffic jam and obstacles to movement have been caused.

As for the actions taken, some of the participants in the rally entered the fan zone, in "Skënderbej" Square, adapted and intended for watching sports activities, disrupting public peace and calling on citizens who were watching the sports activity to join the rally.

Work continues to identify and prosecute other responsible persons. The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action. Two days ago, the materials were referred and criminal proceedings began for 19 other citizens. "- the announcement states.
