Rafael Nadal announces his retirement from tennis

Rafael Nadal, one of the greatest tennis players of all time, has announced that he will retire from professional tennis at the end of the season after the Davis Cup final.

The 38-year-old, who has won 22 Grand Slam titles, announced the news in a video message posted on X.

"Hello everyone. I'm here to let you know that I'm retiring from professional tennis," the Spaniard said.

Two decades ago, Nadal hit the ATP Tour and he quickly began to challenge Roger Federer's dominance as he established himself as one of the greatest teenagers the sport has ever seen. Their rivalry, highlighted by their contrasting playing styles and approaches, will reignite global interest in the sport and spark what many consider the golden age of men's tennis.
