"Rome, the land of the Albanian mafia" / How the clans became stronger, the Italian criminologist: They have a monopoly on drug trafficking

"Rome, the land of the Albanian mafia" / How the clans became

The Albanian mafia has gained power in the Italian capital. Criminologist and lawyer Vincenzo Musacchio told "Rai news" that the Albanian mafia in Rome is difficult to fight, while adding that it acts, alternating violence with corruption. They are intelligent, evil and opportunistic, says the criminologist.

"Not only does it exist, but in the Eternal City it is no longer playing a role as a follower as in the past ," he said, when asked if the Albanian mafia exists in Rome. Unlike in the past they only managed it, Musacchio says that now Albanian mafia clans supply drugs.

"I do not think we can talk about colonization but of course in Rome the Albanian mafia counts more than in the past. "Before they checked the drug squares, today they supply them with their drugs, the ones produced and packaged in Albania and ready for use in Rome and its province" , he said.

Regarding the practice followed by the Albanian mafia, the Italian criminologist suggests that “Albanians use the old methods and first mark their territory with weapons and violence, then they become corrupt and enter into alliances. "Rome really threatens the dominance of these young mobsters."

He underlines that the Albanian mafia has been empowered thanks to the production and trafficking of drugs throughout Europe. "They produce and sell drugs and consequently make big profits," said Musacchio.

He also added that drugs coming from Albania are managed in the main areas of Rome, emphasizing that Albanians already have a monopoly on drug trafficking and sell it at a high price to locals.

"Rome is already in fact the land of the Albanian mafia. "Their dominance threatens to spread like wildfire," said the Italian criminologist.
