A 30-year-old man lost his life this afternoon at Kathisma Beach in Lefkada, Greece, after drowning in strong waves due to bad weather while swimming.

According to his friends, who were present at the tragic moment, they were horrified to see the 30-year-old washed ashore by the waves, unconscious.

The young man originally from Trikalla had gone to Lefkada with friends to celebrate his bachelor party together, which they had planned for a long time, as he was expected to get married next week.

The coast guard and the emergency medical team (EKAV) managed to pull him out of the water and transport him by ambulance to the Lefkada hospital, but the young man had died.
