Kaja Kallas from the Balkans: Kosovo needs leadership that looks to the future,

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has briefly summarized on social media the messages she conveyed during her visit to Kosovo, Serbia and North Macedonia in recent days.

On her Balkan tour, Kallas visited Kosovo, Serbia and North Macedonia, where she delivered clear messages to each country. In Serbia, she writes, she urged the authorities to accelerate reforms and clearly define the country's strategic direction towards the EU, by restoring trust and commitment to democratic principles.

"I also spoke with young people and civil society representatives, who demanded justice and accountability - their voice and energy are essential to moving forward ," she wrote on Instagram.

Regarding Kosovo, Kallas appealed for overcoming the political impasse and the rapid formation of a functional government.

"Leaders must put divisions aside and prioritize the future of Kosovo," she stressed.

As for North Macedonia, Kallas underlined that the country was the first in the region to sign a Security and Defence Partnership with the EU and benefitted from the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.

"North Macedonia belongs to the European family and it is now essential to continue on the path towards the EU ," she said.
