Albanian cinematography bids farewell today to one of its greatest names, renowned director Piro Milkani, who passed away on May 24 at the age of 86. The funeral ceremony will be held today, May 25, at the Sharra cemetery in Tirana.
The funeral procession will depart at 1:00 PM from the "Alba 2000" funeral agency, on "Rrugë e Durrës", near the former Yugoslav embassy.
In a notice distributed by the family, it is announced that receptions for condolences will take place on May 27, 28 and 29, at the premises of the same funeral agency, from 10:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 20:00.
The news of his father's passing was announced by his son, Eno Milkani, through a touching post on social media: "My father, friend and colleague is gone," he wrote.
Piro Milkani left behind a precious legacy in Albanian film art, with dozens of feature films, international collaborations, and an irreplaceable influence on the education and formation of new generations of Albanian filmmakers.
