Gen Z is changing work culture, salaries are no longer taboo

The new generation is breaking one of the strongest "taboos" in the job market: discussing salary and personal finances. A recent study shows that Gen Z young people are significantly more open than previous generations when talking about income and economic difficulties.

According to the data, about 27% of young people aged 18–29 say they openly talk to friends about their salary. This figure is higher than among millennials (20%), while falling significantly among Gen X (12%) and baby boomers (3%), who continue to consider this topic more private.

Experts attribute this change to several factors, including the rising cost of living, job market uncertainty, and the influence of social networks, where young people more freely share personal and professional experiences.

According to them, for Gen Z, discussing salary is no longer seen as a delicate issue, but as a way to better understand the job market, compare conditions, and increase financial awareness among peers.

This trend, according to analysis, could affect the future of work culture, pushing towards more transparency in wages and employment conditions.
