Brussels is considering the possibility of sanctions against Serbian President

The European Union is considering the possibility of sanctions against Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

MEPs warn of measures that will hit Belgrade's economy and political interests, sending the message that the EU's patience has run out.

MEP Tonino Picula said that the policy of tolerance has failed and it is time for concrete action,  media reports .

"Looking through fingers has not brought about any change. Now the EU is considering measures that could directly affect Serbia's interests ," he stressed.

In the European Parliament's latest report, Serbia was criticized for a lack of progress in the rule of law, media freedom, democratic standards, and cooperation with the EU, especially in the dialogue for the normalization of relations with Kosovo.
