Vučić meets Putin in China

Vučić meets Putin in China

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said on Tuesday that he had "a brief conversation" with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, with whom, however, he said that "there was no bilateral meeting" during their visit to Beijing.

He did not elaborate on what they discussed during the meeting on Tuesday in the Chinese capital.

Vučić and Putin participated in the international forum of the Chinese "Belt and Road" initiative in Beijing.

This is the first time they have met in the same place since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in March 2022.

Serbia is the target of criticism from the European Union, because it is not agreeing to impose sanctions on Russia for the invasion of Ukraine.

Vucic said on Tuesday in Beijing that Serbian citizens will feel the effect of the signing of the free trade agreement between Serbia and China.

Serbia and China signed a series of agreements on October 17, the most important of which is the Free Trade Agreement.
