Grenell Remains US Envoy for WB After Being Named Acting Director of US National Intelligence
US Ambassador in Germany and the American president’s special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Richard Grenell will remain in both those posts even though he has been appointed Acting Director of National Intelligence, the Voice of America was told in his cabinet.
Grenell’s spokesman Dick Custin said that he will be an acting director only temporarily, adding that Grenell will hold the post for some time with the White House announcing its nomination for the post soon.
Custin said that Grenell will be 100 percent devoted to all his duties.
US President Donald Trump tweeted that he had decided to appoint Grenell to head the Office of the Director of National Intelligence overseeing both civilian and military intelligence agencies.
He said that Grenell did an excellent job representing the US in Germany and as envoy for the Kosovo dialogue.
As soon as he was appointed envoy, Grenell urged the Pristina authorities to revoke the 100 percent tariffs on goods from Serbia and called official Belgrade to stop its campaign to overturn decisions by other countries to withdraw their recognition of Kosovo. To date, 17 countries have withdrawn their decisions to revoke recognition of Kosovo.
