Trump imposes sanctions on the International Criminal Court

United States President Donald Trump has imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), after accusing it of unjust and baseless actions against the United States and its ally, Israel.

This decision comes in response to the ICC's efforts to investigate the actions of US forces in Afghanistan and allegations of war crimes by Israel in the Palestinian territories, writes CNN

The sanctions measures imposed include financial restrictions and visa bans on ICC officials and their families who are involved in investigations against US citizens or their allies.

The Trump administration has described this move as necessary to protect US sovereignty and prevent what they call "unjust interference" by an international institution that has no jurisdiction over the United States.
