"We found love for Albania like nowhere else" / Nikolla and Gjekmarkaj received by Pope Francis

The Speaker of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla and the Deputy Speaker, Agron Gjekmarkaj were received in a meeting by the Holy Father, Pope Francis. They also met with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Paroli.

In a reaction on social networks, Gjekmarkaj says that "There I found great love and attention for Albania like nowhere else."

Gjekmarkaj describes as exciting the meeting with Pope Francis, for the messages he conveyed to the Albanian delegation and the hospitality.

The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly says that the Vatican Secretary showed interest in understanding the dynamics of life in Albania, from the political to the social.

 “Ndër shekuj edhe kur reja e zezë mbulonte vendin tonë,  brenda atyre mureve u konservua një pjesë themelore e identitetit tonë kombetar! Gjergj Kastriot-Skenderbeu  pas udhëtimeve të gjata përzhitur me pluhur betejash mbërrinte aty në ato 25-vite lavdie dhe aleancat e mëdha me Papët i bënte , e bashkë me bekimet e tyre apostolike merrte mbështetje për arbërore që luftonin për  vete dhe Europen!

Në ato ujdhesa  e imagjinoj me kalorsit e tij besnik tek kumte të rënda shpie. Aty në Biblioteken apostolike u ruajt amza jonë kombetare, "Meshari" i Gjon Buzukut kjo spirancë në Identitetin europian të Shqiptarve.Në ato kisha të qytetit etern, mësohej gjuha shqipe për meshtarët që niseshin për ilirik. Në tipografitë e urdhërave të ndryshëm shtypeshin librat bazik të kombit tonë ato Budit , Bogdanit , Bardhit , Kazazit e të t'jerë.

You pass those porticos filled with the history of western civilization, you try to find your pieces and when you encounter them you get excited and filled with gratitude which I do not know where to stop before, to Pope Montini, to Pope John Paul who kissed our earth, or to Pope Francis who spoke to the whole world about the ethical and inspiring lecture of Albanian coexistence ?!

"I love Albania, please, said the Holy Father! A policy for the people, you must always work for them, a working people wins! The Holy Father remembers and promotes" brotherhood between religious communities in Albania "!" - writes Gjekmarkaj.
