After the debate on the citizen protests moved to the Assembly hall, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, and the leader of the Socialist parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, exchanged strong accusations from the assembly podium.

While Berisha defended the protesters and demanded the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama, Balla questioned his representation of the protest, challenging him to appear among the citizens.

Sali Berisha:  You cannot suppress those who have received international support. The citizens' demands are for the immediate removal of Rama, for the annulment of all laws amended by Rama for environmental protection, with which you built the Vlora airport and for this reason sentenced the flamingos to death. In which you built the small point in the Butrint Park, with which you destroyed the cultural heritage and national assets of the Albanians, forgetting that they are also European assets.

I think that continuing with other issues in this Parliament, without Rama coming here, for a motion with debate, is an act of both betrayal and cynicism towards Albanian citizens. You have no right to ignore hundreds of thousands of citizens who have 18 days with the flag of the law in their hands, sacrificing hours. Who is showing fascist now, you or them, dictates this and leaves it to be judged by the citizens.

You have decided to solve them with threats, by taking the gangs. I urgently warn of a parliamentary investigation. Hands off the protest, the voice of the citizens will never be defeated. Then you will run away like rats. But it is better now, manfully, to cast doubt on Edi Rama and provide a solution to the crisis that will be many times stronger in the days and weeks to come.

Taulant Balla:  First, the request is formulated incorrectly and cannot be taken into consideration. From the deputy who spoke on behalf of the requesters, we did not hear any arguments related to the request. The request from our group will be rejected.
