Rama is outraged by the EP report: Either Europe has gone crazy and corrupt, or

The European Parliament has asked Albania to impose a moratorium on new permit procedures, construction works and development interventions in protected areas.

In the recently adopted report, MEPs call for the repeal of 2024 amendments that allow large-scale tourist developments within protected areas, arguing that they weaken environmental oversight.

Prime Minister Rama reacted after the approval of the report by calling the MEPs "crazy" and "corrupt" because, according to him, they voted for an amendment that has nothing to do with construction in protected areas.

Rama has posted two amendments, the one approved by the EP, and another that, according to him, is in favor of tourism projects in protected areas.

"Here the EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT separated the "stalk" of the digital storm of disinformation about Zvërnec from the "sugar" of the Vjosa - Nartë protected area, which has no connection to the development that the MEPs, ousted by an overwhelming majority, blindly introduced as an amendment to the Resolution on Albania.

Now either all of Europe, which through its Parliament highly values Albania and encourages our early membership in the EU, has gone crazy and corrupt, or there is something wrong with those who started the protest of recent weeks with the protection of flamingos and are portraying it as a struggle for power in the name of flamingos!

"In any case, the flamingos will be protected, Vjosa-Narta will be protected, Zvërnec will be developed based on an Environmental Impact Assessment according to European Union standards, and we will continue to elevate Albania to the top of the United Europe ," Rama writes.
