Airline tickets "fly" in August, reaching over 200 euros for one way

The prices of tickets to and from Rinas have marked a significant increase for the month of August, a trend that always happens in this period of the peak of the summer season, due to the increased demand from immigrants, but also from tourists.

A search of low-cost operators shows that to come from Milan to Tirana on August 10, the ticket costs between 130-190 euros, with Wizz Air.

The return on August 12 from Tirana to Milan is cheaper, at 35 euros, while a return ticket costs up to 225 euros. Ryanair is cheaper, with 108-150 euros from Milan to Tirana, while from Tirana to Milan it takes from 43 to 60 euros, with the cheapest ticket in both directions costing around 150 euros.

From Rome to Tirana, on the same dates, the ticket with Wizz fluctuates from 130 to 175 euros, while the return is much cheaper, with 25 euros.

Tickets from Italian cities to Rinas are expensive in the first half of August due to the high flow of travelers to Tirana, a large part of whom are immigrants. While the demand for flights from Rinas to Italian cities is lower, making the tickets cheap.

The opposite happens in the second half of August, as immigrants return to the countries where they live. From Milan you can come to Tirana on August 24 for 10 euros, while the ticket from Tirana to Milan costs up to 250 euros, with Wizz Air.

With Ryanair, from Tirana to Milan on August 24, the ticket costs from 225 to 332 euros, while from Milan (Bergamo) to Tirana you can come on the 24th for 17 euros.

The same thing happens with Rome. From Rome to Tirana, the ticket is 15 euros on August 24, while from Tirana to Rome it is 145 euros.

Other destinations in the first half of August are also expensive. A return ticket to Barcelona costs at least 260 euros, with Wizz Air.

To travel from Tirana to Berlin on August 14, the ticket costs 320 euros. From Tirana to Paris, on August 17, the price reaches 305 euros, while to return on the 20th, the ticket costs 20-30 euros.

Other operators also have expensive prices in August. A ticket to Vienna and vice versa for August 17-19 with Vienna, through Austrian Airlines costs at least 250 euros.

The entry of low-cost carriers, first Wizz Air and then Ryanair, has significantly reduced airline ticket prices over the past few years. In non-peak periods, their price varies even less than 20 euros one way. For example, to and from Milan at the end of September you can find a return ticket for 30 euros, both with Wizz Air and with Ryanair.

However, August never escapes the "flying" of ticket prices, which in some cases reach from 150-300 euros in one direction. Market operators recommend that the purchase of tickets is never left to the last moment, especially in the summer period.

The data from Tirana International Airport (TIA) show that for the first 5 months of the year, WIzz Air occupies the largest share of the flight market according to the number of passengers, with about 60%.

In second place is Ryanair with 23%. Air Albania ranks next with 3.3%, followed by Lufthansa with 2.5%, Pegasus 2%, Austrian Airlines 1.9%.

According to TIA, for the January-May period from and through Rinas, about 3.7 million passengers traveled, with a 67% increase compared to the same period a year ago./ Monitor
