Massive landslide in Përmet, houses just meters away from the cliff

An alarming situation has arisen in the village of Malishovë in the Përmet district, where massive landslides, caused by heavy rainfall, are seriously endangering the lives of residents.

The complaint has reached the News 24 editorial office, where a citizen raises the alarm that eight apartments are on the verge of collapse, while three of them are still inhabited by families who live in daily fear.

According to the resident's testimony, the nearest apartment is located just one meter away from the created ravine, which is expanding by the minute.

The landslide has created a chasm about 300 meters long and over 40 meters deep, making the situation even more dangerous. Residents say the ground is shaking constantly, creating the feeling of an ongoing earthquake and increasing fears of the collapse of homes.

"I am a resident of the village of Malishovë, in the Përmet district, and I am writing to you with deep concern and real fear for the lives of our families. As a result of heavy rainfall, a massive landslide has occurred, which is spreading over a very wide area. Currently, 8 homes are in immediate danger, while families live in 3 of them, where the landslide has reached only 1 meter from the foundations," the citizen states in his complaint.

He emphasizes that the houses are shaking at any moment and that the risk of a tragedy is real and imminent. Residents call on the authorities to urgently intervene for verification on the ground, the evacuation of endangered families and the taking of emergency measures to stabilize the area.

"This situation is extremely alarming and requires immediate intervention, before any human life is lost. The lives of our families are in danger," concludes the denunciation of the resident from Malishova, Përmet.
