Albania 'shakes' from the earthquake in Greece, minister: No damage

Earthquake tremors were felt in the late hours of last night in several cities in Albania. The quake's epicenter was in Florina, Greece, with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale.

The depth of the earthquake was 10 km, while the tremors were felt in Tirana, Durres, Gjirokastra, Berat, Korca, Elbasan and in Northern Macedonia. The quake was accompanied by two aftershocks, which caused panic among citizens.

In the late evening hours, the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, reacted, noting that no damage had been reported so far, while adding that the civil emergency structures are on standby.

Peleshi said that the tremors that were felt in our country had their epicenter on the border between northern Macedonia and Greece, about 40 km northeast of Bilisht.

"Although very early, no damage has been reported so far, however, all civil emergency structures are in full readiness to identify and then react in any situation," the minister wrote.
