Elmar Brok: Albania is not yet ready for the EU, things have not been done well

CDI Vice President Elmar Brok commented on recent developments in the European Union, focusing on Albania's integration.

In an interview given on "Çim Peka Live", Brok said that Albania still has a long way to go to meet the membership conditions.

According to him, the reform process should continue at a rapid pace, focusing on key areas that will make Albania and other aspiring countries ready for membership.

" Albania is not yet ready for the EU, but some chapters have been opened, out of 34 chapters 5 have been opened and others will be opened, one of them has been closed and we still have to see since there are different positions regarding the rule of law, big question marks for the economy, therefore I think it is necessary to carry out the necessary process of reforms, until membership, whether in the economic, political or rule of law fields or freedom of the media. Free speech must be allowed completely. Media control is not acceptable when you want to become a member of the EU. Elections are also a condition. Not only election day but also the preparatory phase. And here I think that further developments should be made.....The Copenhagen criteria must be implemented... Things have not been done well in these 12 years" , said Brok.
